Commentary: When Ascetos Desert was expanded it became the largest hunting area in the game. Sprawling, with 3 distinct sections, the hunting was oft times poor here. Recent updates have greatly improved the hunting here. Not for the faint of heart, or those with low health points.
With the implementation of the Deep Desert (the most northerly portion) hunting is best done in groups. You can easily find groups of 10 Baby Dragons and other mixed groups of equally dangerous opponents.
